1. INTRODUCTION

The VTOS Certificate in Hotel Management is designed for hotel investors or owners, hotel managers, heads of department in hotels/resorts who are looking for opportunities to invest in the hotel industry or set-up and manage a hotel professionally in compliance with the nation-wide Vietnam Tourism Occupational Skills Standards (VTOS).

This training course is based on VTOS standards and delivered by a group of trainers who are experienced hotel management experts. The course aims to support learners to meet the competencies required for a hotel manager, with practical outreach content in managing different areas in hotel operations such as front office, housekeeping, food and beverage services, customer services, facilities, finance,marketing and so forth.

  • 2. COURSE OUTLINE
    The course is forHotel owners or investors who are planning to set up a hotel Managers, department heads, supervisors who are currently working in hotel properties and who want to improve management knowledge and skills to become a hotel owner or to reach a higher position in the hotel industry
    The course objectives
  • Recognize current trends in hotel business and sustainable hotel management.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of a hotel manager.
  • Understand how to use the competency standards (VTOS) in hotel management
  • Recognize the main requirements in managing hotel departments (Front office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage)
  • List the criteria in hotel design, management of hotel physical resources
  • Determine how to calculate hotel staffing and manage human resources.
  • Recognize and understand the contents of financial reports, manage revenue, and determine a hotel's annual operating budget.
  • Identify the requirements for developing a hotel marketing plan and managing hotel sales activities.

  • Training focused on developing the capabilities of learners.
  • Emphasis on practicing skills, role-playing and activities to develop the strategic thinking skills of managers, closely linked to the realistic, diverse and flexible needs of hotels.

    Final assessment and evaluationPre-course assessment: Conduct a training needs assessment and evaluate supervisory and management competencies.

    Post-course assessment: Based on the results of individual practical exercises, teamwork during the course or comprehensive assessments in the form of quizzes or final individual/group projects.
    Completion requirementsStudents must attend at least 80% of the programme duration
    Assessment results attained must be average or higher
    Must not violate the school’s rules and regulations.
